SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITY
At present the scientific community of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova entails almost 500 titular teaching staff, whereof 29 Doctors Habilitatum and 200 Doctors of Science. The scientific activity within AESM is presently directed by the Vice-rector for the Scientific Research and Foreign Relations, Professor Ph.D. Vadim Cojocaru. Pursuant to the Senate Decision, in 2002, there was initiated the Centre for Economic Research (CER). Its main objectives are to organize, coordinate and direct the scientific research at AESM. The centre has 10 research laboratories, financed by AESM as well as state and international grants. In the research system, the chair is the key element in organizing the research activity. Research teams may be either organized within a certain chair or conduct their activity in mixed teams. There are 27 student debating communities that involve more than 800 students, whereof 81 are members of chair research teams. The results of the scientific researches are provided in teaching publications, monographs, textbooks, and scientific articles. The academic teaching staff take part in scientific events including international congresses, conferences and symposia by presenting speeches and reports. Furthermore, there is an ongoing scientific cooperation between AESM and other higher education and scientific research institutions, national and international government and non-government organizations.
The results of the scientific researches are presented in the scientific reports, recommendations for the Government, ministries, departments, international institutions and foundations, economic agents; various concepts and programmes; teaching/learning guidelines; doctoral theses; monographs; textbooks; scientific articles; reports and speeches at symposia, conferences, scientific seminars and workshops. The most important international scientific forums hosted by AESM during the last years: 1. International Scientific Conference “European Integration Economic Policies”- Chisinau, AESM, 23-24 September 2005. 2. The 30th Annual Congress of the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences (ARA) – the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, July 5-10 2005. 3. International Conference “Accounting and Auditing Issues under Globalization ” – Chisinau, AESM, 15-16 April 2005. 4. International Symposium “Demographic Issues under the European Integration” – Chisinau, AESM, 14-15 April 2005. 5. “Management Issues for Excellence in Research and Education Networking” – NATO ANU, the Fourth CEE Net Workshop on Network Management, October 8-12 2004. Between 1993-2005, 22 scientific events such as conferences and symposia were organized with the subsequent publishing of the conference proceedings. Recently, there were published 3 more issues of AESM Scientific Annals.
